Kaarin Kalavus is a senior BIM consultant for Turner & Townsend focusing on BIM strategy development and implementation for clients in the GCC region.
Kaarin has a wide spectrum of project experience covering infrastructure, property, manufacturing, leisure & sport, education and healthcare in the UK, Qatar and UAE.
Formally educated as an architectural technologist, Kaarin began her BIM career through research in in Northumbria University’s BIM Academy, and therefore is well experienced in collaboration and data exchange through open standards.
She pioneered standardised BIM object library development for Laing O’Rourke’s Explore Manufacturing pre-cast concrete range and played a pivotal role in process improvement in engineering, estimating and pricing through the use of BIM.
In the GCC, Kaarin has contributed to the large regional programmes: 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar™ and Abu Dhabi Midfield Terminal Complex, both from the client’s perspective.
In her current role within Turner & Townsend, Kaarin is challenging the value and use of BIM for the client during the operational stage of an asset.
